Yesterday I kicked off my Bloom Boutique Suite Collection inspiration with a fun fold card—and today we’re using the same beautiful suite in a completely different way!
That’s one of my favorite things about a great Stampin’ Up! suite. You don’t need a different collection for every card. Change the layout, colors, technique, or pull in an old favorite from your stash, and suddenly you have a completely different look.
For Day 2 of Bloom Boutique, we’re talking about two-step stamping—and I have a little reminder for you about those older stamps sitting on your shelf! 🌸
What Is Two-Step Stamping?
If you’re newer to stamping, two-step stamping is a technique where two or more coordinating stamped images are layered together to create a finished image with added color, detail, and dimension.
The floral images in the Bloom Boutique Suite Collection are perfect for playing with this technique.
For today’s card, I created my own colorful floral background. I love how highland hue, golden glow, peaceful pine, and Crisp Cantaloupe work together against the white cardstock.
And because two-step stamping can sometimes feel a little intimidating, I’ve created a Two-Step Stamping Helpful Hints Technique Page to go along with today’s project. You can save or print it and keep it near your craft table for the next time you’re working with layered stamps.
🧡 But Wait…Did You Notice That Texture?
Take another look at the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.
See that subtle texture?
That’s NOT part of the cardstock!
I pulled out my retired Linen Background Stamp and stamped it onto the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock to create extra texture and depth.
And I LOVE what it did to this card!
It’s subtle, but it’s one of those little details that can take a card from pretty to “Ohhhh…look at that!”
Don’t Forget Those Old Stamp Sets!
This is your reminder from me:
Don’t forget about those retired stamps in your stash!
Just because a stamp set is retired doesn’t mean it has stopped being useful—or beautiful.
Background stamps, textures, simple sentiments, and other timeless images can be fantastic partners for your newest Stampin’ Up! products.
I love mixing something new with something I already own.
The Bloom Boutique Suite may be the star of today’s card, but that retired Linen Background Stamp is definitely playing a great supporting role!
So before you decide you need something new to finish a project, take a peek through your older stamps. You might discover the perfect little something that makes your card amazing. 💕
🌸 Don’t Forget the Inside!
I also carried a little bit of that floral design to the inside of the card.
The narrow floral border ties the inside to the front while still leaving plenty of white space for a handwritten message.
It’s a simple detail, but it makes the entire card feel finished.
