Yesterday I shared the first card in my Square Corner Fold series, featuring the beautiful Bloom Boutique Suite Collection. Today, we’re taking that very same fun fold and giving it a completely different personality!
Welcome to Card #2 of 3 using the Square Corner Fold — this time featuring A Stitched Season Suite.
And I think this is exactly why I love a good fun fold.
Once you learn the basic construction, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to create. Change the Designer Series Paper, stamps, colors and embellishments, and suddenly you have a completely different card!
A Cozy, Traditional Christmas Look
For today’s card, I went with a warm, homespun Christmas feel using Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Peaceful Pine, Pecan Pie, Real Red, Secret Sea.
The mix of patterns gives this card so much interest, but the Square Corner Fold is really what makes it special. When the card opens, that folded corner creates an unexpected interactive element — and gives us another perfect little spot to decorate!
I added the Christmas tree to that corner panel so there’s a fun surprise waiting when the recipient opens the card.
And don’t forget about the inside of your cards! I carried the colors and Christmas theme inside with another patterned strip and those adorable little trees.
Same Fold — Completely Different Card!
Compare this card to yesterday’s Bloom Boutique Square Corner Fold and you’d hardly believe they started with the same basic card design.
That’s something I want you to remember when you’re looking through your own craft supplies:
You don’t always need a new card design — sometimes you just need to look at an old design with new eyes.
Pull out those papers you’ve been saving. Mix in a favorite stamp set. And yes, use those retired goodies you still love!
